"Distress, interrupted"

Paola’s workshop constituted a film screening of Estado de Malestar/ State of Distress (2019) by Maria Ruido. The film responded to the concept of ‘psychic suffering in the age of capitalist realism,’ which engages with a constellation of texts by authors such as Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Mark Fisher and Santiago López Petit. The workshop emerged from an array of methods and concepts (film screenings, group conversations, interruptions, madness and mental health activism), she engages with in other activist collectives she participates in, such as Other Ways to Care and Gold Paper Mental Health Group.
